Groupe Renault’s history dates back to 115 years, bringing French innovation and design into the core philosophy. Today, an international presence in over 128 countries allows us to design, manufacture, and market private and commercial vehicles, creating a solid global customer base. We promote and sell our automobiles under three brand names: Renault, Dacia, and Renault Samsung Motors.

Building relationships being part of our foundation, our unique alliance with Nissan, and other strategic partnerships have helped us create a flourishing network. We are now the fourth largest car manufacturer worldwide. Our 120,000+ employees spread across the world share a passion for mechanics and automobiles.

History

2005 – 2007

Renault’s successful journey in India began in the year 2005. From then until now, Renault has captured the essence of the Indian automobile market by designing and developing cars like the Renault KWID, new Renault DUSTER, and the super spacious ultra-modular Renault TRIBER, dotted with exciting features, thus creating a long-lasting association with the Indian buyer.

2008 – 2010

In the following years, the company expanded its base by setting up a design studio in Mumbai in the year 2008, a technology and business center in Chennai in 2009, and a Renault-Nissan manufacturing facility in Chennai in 2010.
In the same year, Renault ended its collaboration with the Mahindra & Mahindra Group and went solo to open a nation-wide network of Renault dealerships and the launch of a new range of cars.

2011 – 2012

At the beginning of 2011, Renault launched its first car in India – Renault FLUENCE. In the same year, Renault launched an all-new Renault KOLEOS, followed by Renault PULSE, Renault DUSTER, and Renault SCALA in the year 2012. By December 2012, Renault was creating waves by grabbing several awards in the automobile sector, a testament to Renault’s growing success in India.

2013 – 2014

After celebrating its second anniversary in India in 2013, Renault broke the mold by bringing India a well-designed concept car – Renault KWID – straight off the European market. The Renault DUSTER ADVENTURE EDITION was a cherry on top for explorers and adventurers and just the perfect time for the company to take root in India with 100+ facilities across the country. On the other hand, the company aimed to explore several more portions of car-making with additional features installed in Renault DUSTER and Renault FLUENCE, thus creating a footprint in the ‘Sports Luxury’ segment.

2015 – 2016

Renault India registered a 160% growth in domestic sales by the end of the year 2015 after expanding its network with the inauguration of its 190th dealership in Telangana. Additionally, in the year 2016, Renault launches new built-in features in Renault KWID and the LODGY WORLD EDITION and LODGY STEPWAY, offering the perfect blend of thoughtful interiors and eye-catching exteriors, ideally suited for large families.

2020 – Present

Today, in the year 2020, Renault DUSTER and Renault TRIBER remain the most talked-about cars on Indian roads. Both their enhanced versions have captured the eyes of the Indian buyer, making Renault’s overall journey in India triumphant. So, whether it’s the smooth urban roads or rough terrain, Renault has the perfect car for every occasion.
